that helps development project participants achieve their goals
through informed, balanced, comprehensive and strategic civic
engagement practices.
Workman
Associates San Francisco works on behalf of its clients to:
Formulate
and implement sound strategies to help move client projects to
successful completion in a timely manner;
Navigate
complex city processes and protocol, including those related to
San Francisco's Departments of Planning, Building Inspection,
Recreation and Park and Public Works, as well as the Board of
Supervisors and Office of the Mayor;
Liaison
with government staff, community groups, individual neighbors,
elected officials and funders to cultivate support for clients'
public and private projects;
Outreach
to neighborhood groups and community organizations to communicate
project plans that serve both the client and the community;
Facilitate
meetings, workshops and community gatherings where projects are
vetted and potential issues are resolved.
Dee Dee Workman
is president of Workman Associates San Francisco. For over a decade
Ms. Workman has worked closely with civic organizations, community
leaders, property owners, merchants, real estate developers, foundations,
legislators and city staff to craft sensible policies and programs
that sustain San Francisco's natural and urban environment. Before
launching her firm Ms. Workman was Executive Director of San Francisco
Beautiful, a venerable community improvement institution, for
eleven years. She has published numerous articles, opinion pieces
and presentations related to San Francisco's special character

Ms. Workman
currently serves as an appointee to the City's Community Challenge
Grants Advisory Board, the Mayor's Open Space Task Force and the
San Francisco PUC's Lake Merced Watershed Plan Advisory Committee.
After founding the Lake Merced Task Force nearly 10 years ago,
she continues to serve on its Steering Committee. She is a member
of the Board of Directors of Livable City.
San Francisco
Tomorrow honored Ms. Workman with their Unsung Hero Award for
leading the No New Billboards ballot campaign that won with over
79% of the vote. San Francisco Beautiful recently awarded her
with their top honor, the Friedel Klussmann Award, for her work
to restore Lake Merced.
Prior to
her work with San Francisco Beautiful Ms. Workman directed healthcare
agencies throughout the Bay Area for nearly 20 years. She holds
a Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) in Community Education
from the University of California at Berkeley. She lives in San
Francisco with her family.
